Charco Azul (Río Turia)
A natural pool of crystal-clear, turquoise water deep in the Turia canyon, wedged between the vertical walls of the Los Calderones area. It is one of the most photographed wild swimming spots around here, with a small wooden jetty, and is reached on foot along the pantaneros trail about 4 km from the village.
The water of the Charco Azul holds that turquoise colour because the Turia squeezes between limestone walls deep inside the Los Calderones area of Chulilla. It is the most photographed pool in the canyon and the reward most walkers are after.
Getting there
You can only reach it on foot, along the pantaneros trail, about 4 km from the village. A small wooden jetty stands at the edge, once built for reservoir work and now an improvised diving board and lookout over the pool.
