Vilafamés Castle crowns the reddish-stone village, on the Pla de l'Arc. Walls and towers of the hilltop enclosure remain above the old centre of Villafamés, with views over the plain.
History
The Islamic and Christian fortress guarded the Arc plain and the inland route. The village, among the Pueblos Bonitos since 2015, grew below its walls with houses of local red stone. The upper enclosure is walked in a few minutes, with the village always below and the plain beyond.
What to see
Climb on foot to the upper enclosure and walk walls and towers, with the village below. The visit is free and pairs with the MACVAC and the Sangre church.
