Charco de la Horteta
The separate pool at Los Charcos de Quesa, 40 m from the car park down a cabled bank, quieter than the main group.
Charco de la Horteta is the separate pool at Los Charcos, about 7 km from Quesa. It is not with the main group: from the car park you walk about 40 m back along the access track and the pool is seen from above, set in the narrows of the Grande river. The town council allows bathing in it as in the other three pools of the site. Being off the main walk, it is usually the quietest corner of the whole set.
The descent
From the edge of the track to the pool there is a steep bank, fitted with steps and an iron cable that works as a handrail. Go down facing the slope, with grippy shoes and without small children or strollers: this stretch is not suited for people with reduced mobility. The rocks by the water are damp and slippery, and the pool is best enjoyed calmly, with no jumps.
The rest of the site and notices
The main group of pools lies less than 1 km away along a wide flat track through pines, about 4 minutes from the official car park. There you find toilets in high season and on holidays, a picnic area and a 2 euro charge per vehicle in season. There is no public transport: you arrive by car or on foot from Quesa. If you want more water nearby, the Anna 3-waterfalls route lies in the same district.
