On Les Raboses hill, the Castle of Cullera has watched over the town since medieval times. It's a fortress of Arab origin: below it lie the town centre, the mouth of the River Júcar and the Mediterranean.
History
The castle grew out of the Andalusi defensive tradition, when a high point like Les Raboses hill was vital for controlling the coast and the fertile Júcar plain. Over the centuries the fortress changed repeatedly but kept its role as a sentinel facing the sea. Its silhouette is still the symbol of Cullera.

Inside is the Cullera Museum of History and Archaeology, included with the entrance ticket, covering the region's past. The setting matters too: from the walls and viewpoints there are 360-degree views over the Ribera Baixa coast.
