Ermita de Santa Cruz
A small chapel built in 1370 as the mosque of the Mudéjar-Moorish quarter of the Arrabal de Benaeça and consecrated to the Holy Cross in 1525. Together with the one at Simat de la Valldigna it is one of only two mosques of that period dated in the Valencian Community. It was restored recently.
The Ermita de Santa Cruz was built in 1370 as the mosque of the Mudéjar-Moorish quarter of the Arrabal de Benaeça. In 1525 the building was consecrated to the Holy Cross, a dedication it keeps today. Together with the chapel at Simat de la Valldigna, it is one of only two mosques of that period dated in the Valencian Community. That fact helps place the building within the history of settlement at the site and underlines its rarity, since very few similar testimonies have survived in Valencian territory. The chapel was restored in recent years.
