The church of Sant Llorenç in Càlig is a parish church built in the 14th century. Between 1622 and 1659 the building was rebuilt and enlarged, so most of its present appearance comes from that intervention, which was considered finished in 1659. Other elements were added later, such as the doorway of the main entrance, added in 1758. The combination of all these phases leaves several visible construction layers in the building, corresponding to the medieval temple, the 17th-century reform and the 18th-century additions. The result is a building with several superimposed construction stages.
