Iglesia de la Asunción
A church dedicated to Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, whose construction began in 1636. It is neoclassical in style, and inside the altarpiece of the high altar stands out. It presides over the small town centre of Teresa de Cofrentes, in the valley formed by the river Cautabán before it joins the Júcar.
The church of La Asunción in Teresa de Cofrentes began to be built in 1636, the date that marks the start of the work. The building belongs to the neoclassical style, whose ordered forms define its architecture. Inside, the most notable element is the altarpiece of the high altar, which concentrates the artistic interest of the temple. The church thus combines two clear references: a chronology reaching back to the 17th century and a neoclassical building language. The altarpiece of the high altar, for its part, completes the interior ensemble and is the focal point of a visit. In this way the temple forms part of the religious heritage of the town and keeps inside it the piece that best identifies it.
