Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción
The church of the new village of Benagéber, built between 1953 and 1954 after the forced move caused by the reservoir. It is a free-standing structure of concrete and brick chains, with a rectangular plan, side chapels and a concrete bell tower with ashlar corners. It preserves modern altarpieces.
The Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción belongs to the new village of Benagéber. Construction began in 1953 and the church was opened in 1954, after the population was moved because of the reservoir. It is a free-standing structure of concrete and brick chains, with a rectangular plan and side chapels. The bell tower is made of concrete, with ashlar corners, and modern altarpieces are kept inside. The building reflects the construction solutions used in the post-war years. The church of the new village thus accompanies the reconstruction of the municipality after the move and keeps the memory of that period.
