At the southern tip of Xeraco beach, where the Riu Vaca meets the sea, the parasols end and the dunes, marsh and a wooden bird hide begin. The Kentish plover nests here and, while the middle of the beach fills up, this stretch of reeds and fresh water stays the quiet secret of Xeraco locals.
Walk south along the sand from the end of the serviced section to the river mouth; dawn and dusk are when the birds are busiest. Respect the roped-off plover nesting areas between April and May and keep your car off the dunes.
