Torre de la Regenta
A fortified farmhouse with a very old defensive tower, surrounded by orange groves. In the 17th century the structure was remodelled to form part of a farming estate, so today it keeps that double character of tower and rural dwelling. It is one of the most unusual heritage elements in the municipality of les Alqueries.
The Torre de la Regenta is a fortified farmhouse with a very old defensive tower, set among orange groves. The tower was transformed in the 17th century so that it could be integrated into a farming estate, which is why it now has a double character, that of a fortress and that of a rural dwelling. It appears in the municipality's civil heritage as the Arab tower of la Regenta, within the district of les Alqueries. The building sums up the shift from defensive architecture to agricultural use of the land, in a landscape dominated by citrus growing.
