Torre de Mariola
A medieval Islamic watchtower (probably 11th century) crowning the Alto de Mariola, deep in the Serra de Mariola. Square in plan, with walls up to 1.6 m thick, it now stands about 5 m high. It is listed as a Cultural Asset (BIC) and is easily reached from the Font de Mariola recreation area, with spectacular views.
A stone cube with walls up to 1.6 metres thick crowns the Alto de Mariola: the Torre de Mariola, a watchtower of Islamic origin that controlled these mountain passes. It belongs to the Bocairent boundary.

It is probably 11th century, square in plan, and now stands about 5 metres of its original height. It is listed as a Cultural Asset (BIC), the highest level of heritage protection, like so many towers that marked the frontier and the tracks of the Serra de Mariola.
Getting there
The climb is easy from the Font de Mariola recreation area, a good place to begin the walk or to eat. From the top you take in much of the range, so it doubles as a viewpoint on a day trip from València.
