Open in Google Maps

The Torre del Rey is the 16th-century watchtower guarding the coast south of the old town of Oropesa del Mar. It is a truncated-cone masonry tower, part of the system that watched this stretch of coast.

History

It went up in the 16th century to warn of attacks from the sea, in coordination with the castle and neighbouring towers. Its name recalls the crown-sponsored work. The coastal promenade passes by the tower, with benches to watch the sea and the beaches.

What to see

See it from outside, by the coastal promenade, with the sea behind. The visit is short and pairs with the old town and the castle.
