Hardly anyone climbs up here, yet this is the first visitable Jewish cemetery in Spain: a medieval necropolis of graves cut into the living rock, hypogea and mausoleums from the 14th and 15th centuries, on the slope overlooking the whole Camp de Morvedre. After the 1391 massacre, Sagunto became the great refuge for the Jews of the Kingdom of Valencia, and this is the silence they left behind.
It's guided only and places are limited, so book ahead at the Sagunto tourist office (Casa del Mestre Penella). Pair it with a wander through the medieval Jewish quarter just below, one of the best preserved in Spain.
