Iglesia de las Nieves e Iglesia Antigua
Modern parish church from 1973-1975 decorated with mosaics, next to the Gothic-Mudejar old church, the only one of its style in the region.
On the church square in the old town of Calp, two churches stand side by side: the modern Las Nieves church, built in 1973-1975 and decorated with mosaics, and the adjoining old church in Gothic-Mudejar style, the only one of its kind in the Valencian Community.
History
The old church served the medieval town for centuries. When it grew too small, the modern church rose next to it in the 1970s, keeping the old building as a chapel space.
What to see
The mosaics of the modern church and the brick arches of the old one, the only Gothic-Mudejar church of its kind in the region. The square also gives access to the town walls walk.
Tips for your visit
- Both are working churches, so visit outside service times.
- The old church interior opens on limited hours.
