Torre Racef
Muslim watchtower dating from the ninth to the eleventh centuries, in Almussafes. It served to watch over and communicate with the settlements of the area together with the towers of Sollana and Benifaió, and it played a leading part in the conquest by James I. It is protected together with the Sagrario and the Acequia Real del Júcar.
The tower is of Muslim origin and is dated between the ninth and eleventh centuries. It served to watch over and communicate with the settlements of the area, a function it shared with the towers of Sollana and Benifaió. It played a leading part in the conquest by James I together with those same towers, so its history is linked both to the everyday defence of the territory and to a specific military episode. It is protected together with the Sagrario and the Acequia Real del Júcar, which places it within a group of heritage elements preserved in the municipality and allows the organisation of the territory in the Islamic period and after the conquest to be read.
