One of the most charming squares in the old town, presided over by the Font de la Trinitat, a Gothic fountain of 1403 reckoned the oldest in the Valencian Community, with an octagonal pyramidal top and alternating shields of Xàtiva and the Kingdom of Valencia. It is a key stop on the "water route" that links the historic fountains of the city of a thousand fountains.

At the centre of this square flows a Gothic fountain from 1403, reckoned the oldest in the whole Valencian Community. The Plaça de la Trinitat and its Font de la Trinitat sit in one of the quietest corners of the old town of Xàtiva.

The fountain

It is topped by an octagonal pyramidal pinnacle and bears alternating shields of Xàtiva and Aragón. That it still gives water after six centuries says a great deal about this city's water culture, which earned it the nickname "city of a thousand fountains".

The water route

The square is one of the key stops on the "water route", the trail that links Xàtiva's historic fountains. Pair it with the Font dels Vint-i-cinc Brolladors to grasp why water shapes the city's character. It is an open-air, free plan, ideal on a day trip from València.
