By car, on the AP-7 towards Barcelona to exit 43, then the N-340 and CV-141/CV-140. By train, to Benicarló-Peníscola station (7 km away), then a local bus or taxi. There's also a direct Hife bus from València's bus station that drops you near the centre.

Does Peníscola have a train station?
No. The closest is Benicarló-Peníscola, about 7 km away, served by Renfe Larga and Media Distancia trains and connecting with line ER02 of Cercanías València. From there, a local bus or taxi takes you into town.
What is there to see in Peníscola?
The Castell del Papa Luna sits above the walled old town, with its Gothic chapel and the ramparts around it. There's also the lighthouse, the church of Santa María, the Mare de Déu de l'Ermitana hermitage and the Parc d'Artilleria. Outside the centre, the Serra d'Irta Natural Park and the Bufador, a crevice at the sea's edge where water surges up when the swell is running.
Is Peníscola worth visiting with kids?
Yes. The old town is small and pedestrian only, easy to cover with children; the castle tends to be a hit and the beaches sit right below the town. The Serra d'Irta has coves and trails for a day trip or a weekend.
